Calculating horizontal stress using the ESR Method
With the Effective Stress Ratio (ESR) (1D MODEL > Horizontal Stress > ESR Method) workflow, you generate the maximum and minimum horizontal stresses using the overburden stress, pore pressure and Shmin and Shmax effective stress calibration points. Based on the input data, you create trendlines based on ESR logs and later generate the Shmin and SHmax profiles. Additionally, you can add custom calibration points to modify the trendline and consequently update the Shmin and SHmax stress profiles.
The workflow is divided in two steps. On the Effective Stress Ratio form, you create the ESR logs based on the input data. In the next step, on the Horizontal Stress form, you select the input ESR logs and generate the horizontal stress logs.
